For welding heat resistant 22 25% chromium – 12 13% nickel stainless steels such as 309/309L to itself, to other austenitic Cr – Ni grades such as 304L, 308L, 310, 316L, 321 or 347 as well as martensitic grades such as 410, 420, 431, and ferritic stainless grades such as 430, 442, and 446; all of these stainless steel grades can be welded to each other or to mild and carbon steels
Jun 28, 2013 · In the case of 304L austenitic stainless steel tube and pipe, the proper filler metal match is one with an American Welding Society (AWS) 308 or 308L designation, while a 316L filler metal is the appropriate choice for welding 316 austenitic stainless steels.
This Stainless Steel 304H Wire is a modification of Stainless Steel 321 Wire by means of a higher carbon content, to provide improved high temperature strength.

Aug 14, 2010 · The joint is a piece of 3/8" thick 90/10 CuNi plate welded to 304L Stainless steel 3/8" thick plate. Both are beveled to 30deg and have a 3/32" gap between them with a 1/4" thick 90/10 CuNi backing strip. This seam is welded in the 1G position. The filler rod is Mil RN82 which is some kind of Inconel rod. Now for the problem, crack, crack, crack.
